El tratamiento búlgaro
Hace nueve años, a propósito de la muerte de Sebastián Arcos, Carlos Alberto Montaner publicó un artículo titulado El tratamiento búlgaro, sobre la posible utilización de isótopos radioactivos para asesinar a disidentes cubanos. No era una especulación infundada: tiempo atrás, el autor había conocido en Madrid a un desertor de los servicios cubanos de inteligencia que había recibido en Bulgaria un adiestramiento especial para utilizar ese método de asesinato. La muerte en Londres de Alexander Litvinenko, víctima, precisamente, de isótopos radioactivos (Polonio 210) presuntamente inoculados por el espionaje ruso, vuelve a poner sobre el tapete la hipótesis planteada en aquella columna que ahora se reproduce.

The Bulgarian Treatment

Nine years ago, following the death of Sebastián Arcos, Carlos Alberto Montaner published an article titled The Bulgarian treatment, about the possible utilization of radioactive isotopes to murder Cuban dissidents. It was not an unfounded speculation: some time earlier, the author had met in Madrid a defector from the Cuban intelligence services who had received special training in Bulgaria to utilize that method of assassination. The death Nov. 23 in Londres of Alexander Litvinenko, precisely the victim of a radioactive isotope (Polonium 210) presumably injected by Russian spies, again brings up the theory posited in that column, which is reproduced below.
